Jim & Paul 11.11.11

Finally I'm posting the wedding of Jim & Paul from 11.11.11!

Venue: Centro Lowell, MA
Photography: Renee Grande
Music: The Flip Band(now known as Merrimack)
Menus and Seating Chart: Danielle from Lily Belle Events

Their best friend Courtney served as their officiant. To open, a friend sang I'm Yours by Jason Mraz , it was the perfect way to start off such a beautiful ceremony. The wedding was a small, intimate affair with great food, cocktails, music and dancing. We look forward to their much larger "concert reception" in May at the EpiCenter in Boston!

Wedding Cake Traditions

Here in the United States most couples participate in the traditional "cutting of the cake" with a traditional wedding cake. Have you ever wondered what other cultures eat? Let's take a quick trip around the world to find out!

Korea
Sweet Tteok; made from ground steamed rice covered in red bean powder. The rice is a symbol of the meals the couple will share together for the rest of their lives.

Britain
Fruitcake, it is soaked in cognac, with raisins, dates, prunes, and orange peel inside.

Germany
A wedding in Germany wouldn't be complete without a traditional Baumkuchen, which is often made in stacked rings but can also come in the shape of a rectangular cake or small squares.

Greece
In Greece they enjoy a flourless almond wedding cake filled with vanilla custard and fruit and topped with almonds. For those couples who aren't fans of sweeter desserts, sourdough wedding bread decorated with beads and flowers is an acceptable alternative to the traditional cake.

France
Croquembouche, a “cake” that is actually a tower of cream puffs covered in caramel. The word croquembouche means 'crunch in the mouth."

Norway
Rather than serve a cake, Norwegian wedding tradition is to serve a bread called brudlaupskling. This tradition started when wheat flour was very difficult to find in Norway, so white bread was a true delicacy. This bread is topped with a mix of cheese, cream, and syrup and cut into pieces to serve to the guests.

Now I found all this info after doing a little research, if you have any additions/alterations please let me know. Have a tasty Tuesday! :)

Reception WOW!

Food! I'm a big fan of bringing unique dining elements to your guests. Whether it be a custom dessert station such as made on site donuts, a late night food "snack" (ie.milk and cookies), or the growing trend of food trucks, make it you own! Serve something you and your love had on your first date, or a treat that is unique to your family history. Did you meet in a coffee shop? There's Espresso Dave, who provides a café experience for you and your guests. Along with custom floating monograms! Let your imagination run wild. What ever you choose will sure to be a hit!

Entertainment! Pinatas, performers, photo fun booths. Seriously, who wouldn't love a little entertainment at a wedding?! Mr. Drew Photography has a Fun Booth, similar to a photo booth but more FUN! You can fit a lot more people in the shot, more people and props=more craziness to your photos! Don't forget a martini ice luge(this incorporates food, entertainment and lighting!)

Lighting! Lighting is almost a necessity now. Not only will custom lighting create the ambiance you are going for but it'll help highlight all the details and unique elements you have at your wedding. Here are some of my favorite ways to use lighting.

I hope this helps inspire you! And remember Kerry & I are here to help with your event planning needs. Have a wonderful day!
